Zenko Apron & Strappy Top
sold 2019, USA
In my mind there’s something Oriental about this simple ensemble so I’ve called it Zenko after the beautiful, wise and often kindly Japanese Yokai fox spirit. And it’s hand knitted in a luxury Japanese yarn.
I love aprons. I love all kinds of aprons, right now I’m taken by long aprons like tabards. Paired in this case with a Strappy Top, the straps of which match the apron ties.
Half-way through knitting this Zenko Apron I happened to see Bangchan of K-pop group, Stray Kids wearing a mid-calf black apron backwards while dancing to ‘Victory Song’ {see here}.
The Zenko Apron and its matching Zenko Strappy Top are hand knitted in heavenly Noro Shiro cashmere, silk and wool {40% wool 30% cashmere 30% silk}.
I wanted to keep the look minimalist and clean to let the mesmerising shading of the yarn shine so instead of a waistband on the long apron I matched the straps of the Top, knitted a very long i-cord and threaded it through holes at the top of the Zenko Apron.
